Meet
Sarah

Happy hour studio is the creative home of Sarah Hogan, a Designer and baker at Happy Hour Studio and Happy Hour Cakes, I craft both brands and bakes with tonnes personality.

I’ve been a designer for over ten years, helping brands stand out with work that’s bold, approachable, and packed with personality. I call Crouch End home, where I split my time between running Happy Hour Studio, experimenting in the kitchen, and finding increasingly tenuous excuses to justify my pizza addiction.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me wandering around galleries, losing spectacularly at Scrabble, or walking off a cake-testing session.

When it comes to creating brands, or cakes — it’s all about making people feel something. I believe in working collaboratively to bring bold ideas to life, in a way that feels approachable, thoughtful, and just a little bit fun.

Have an idea brewing? Let’s keep it simple and make something brilliant together.

ABOUT ME

When I’m not designing, I’m usually in the kitchen, elbow-deep in cake batter, piping bag in hand. It’s my happy place. Baking isn’t just a hobby; it’s how I tell stories, just like my design work. At Happy Hour Cakes, I craft bespoke celebration and wedding cakes that capture moments worth remembering. Each cake is made thoughtfully, with top-notch ingredients, and from a delightful menu. If you ask nicely, I might let you try some ;-)

BAKING

You might notice a little black and white cat appearing in a lot of my work, that's Fizz, my self-appointed studio manager. She oversees operations with an iron paw, ensuring I never miss her snack breaks or forget to adjust the heating for her comfort. Occasionally, she sends gibberish emails when she strolls across my keyboard and loves making surprise appearances during video calls. She's a bit of a handful, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

FIZZ

I’m also constantly tuned into something, usually food podcasts like Off Menu (because who wouldn’t want to be at an imaginary dinner party with unlimited food?) or Esther Perel, mostly for reassurance that I’m not the only one who overthinks everything. I’m fascinated by people’s food quirks and how their relationships work (or don’t). Apologies if I bore you with my latest podcast obsession, but these little musings often sneak into my work, keeping me entertained while I create.

RECENT LISTENS

You might’ve guessed, I love a cocktail. Whether it’s a classic espresso martini or a spicy margarita I’ve whipped up on a whim, I’m all about experimenting with flavours. Happy Hour Cakes’ flavours often take inspiration from boozy favourites, if you’ve tried my cakes, you’ll know what I mean. The idea for Happy Hour Cakes was first conceived over a drink in the pub, and I’ve been hooked on cocktails ever since. Don’t worry, though, this is all after working hours, I promise ;-)
